No Sexy in Heaven
Wonder if my dear Christians sisters, both younger and older, would consider that there will be no sexy in Heaven. If what you're wearing is tight, low cut, too short, provocative...you are using the world and not the WORD as your clothing guide. Christians women don't show cleavage...not even a hint of it. Do you think Mary the mother of our Lord did? Or Priscilla? Or Timothy's sweet momma? It's hard for our brothers in Christ to treat us like sisters when we are showing off our goods...however limited some of our goods may be. :) But really girls. It's serious. Love you all sooo much! Have a super duper day today and every day! You are so beautiful, you want to catch a man with your beautiful face and spirit....not your beautiful body!

I Haven’t Been Reading My Bible
Written with love by Betty Strickland
I had the privilege of staying with my Papa Moore for a week one summer when my aunt
Euella went on a well earned vacation. But, I am convinced I had the better end of that deal!
Papa and I would stay up into the night talking and me learning things I had not heard before.
Like, when he and Mama Moore married, when he was road commissioner of Prentiss County,
Mississippi and so on. The most remembering story was how they used to go to “brush arbor”
meetings. He said on one certain night this preacher spoke very plain and knowingly. Well, after
the close of the preaching, Papa said he went up to the preacher and asked “What church are
you a member of?” The preacher would not give a name but answered, “The one you may read
about in the Bible.” Well, dear Papa went home and started reading his Bible, then....obeyed the
gospel of our Lord. He and Mama Moore started their life of service to God from that day
forward. How did Mama and Papa KNOW what to do to “obey the gospel”? How did they KNOW
what to do to SERVE the Lord? The answer to that is really simple, they studied. Papa was 91 or
92 years old at that time and he read his Bible every day and said he LEARNED something new
every day. He had been an elder of the church in Marietta, MS for 40 years when he passed from this life to his home in heaven.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This is a COMMAND to all Christians! I know
there may be time when it is not convenient, or “too many irons in the fire” so to speak. But,
please stop to think...where would we be if Jesus had been to busy or too occupied to go to the
cross of Calvary for you and me?
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with
all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (Acts
17:11) They did not take a preacher’s word for what they heard, but made SURE if it was in
accordance with God’s Word. Do you want to be remembered as a “Berean” or one from
Thessalonica?
I moved back to Mississippi one time after I had been driving (in Georgia) for about 10 years.
Well, as you know you have to change drivers licenses when you change states. So off I go to
take my test, thinking, “It can’t be much different from GA”. My first mistake, for like Naaman, in
(2 Kings 5:11a) But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought.......
Needless to say, I failed. So I got a book, went home and studied, went back two weeks later and
passed. (“When all else fails, read the instructions”). Now, this second chance for my driver’s
license, although somewhat embarrassing, is nothing to the one and ONLY “test” (if you will allow
me to use that phrase) we have to face after our life on earth is finished. The only chance we
have to “read the instruction book (Bible)” is while we are still on the upper side of the grass.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27) No
second chance here.
In Matthew 28:19 “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” and Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them,
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Teach what, Lord? - (Matthew 28:20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I
have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
And (Mark 16:16) and He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be
damned. Well, how can one accomplish this without KNOWING what to “teach” and how to “baptize”? The
only way is to read and STUDY the Book.
Set a goal or prepare a plan. Study by reading book by book or a subject, (ie. church, baptism, how to
worship and so on). Remember the Bible was written in letter form, not in chapters and verses. Learn to use
your “middle column reference” or a concordance to follow a line of thought. Use the blank pages to record
scriptures you want to remember, like the plan of salvation - Hear the gospel: Romans 10:13-17; Believe -
John 3:16; Confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God - Matt. 3:6; Repent of sins - Luke 13:3,5; Be Baptized -
Romans 6:3,4; Walk in newness of life - Romans 6:4-6; Remain faithful - Rev. 2:10.
I have made charts and printed them on large label pages (sticky on back) and stuck them onto the
pages that are added to my Bible that man “added”.
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do
these things, ye shall never fall: (2 Peter 1:10).
